About Kate Gifford
I am a clinical optometrist, researcher, lecturer, and professional leader based in Brisbane, Australia. I operate an independent optometry practice with specialty interests in contact lenses, binocular vision, paediatrics and myopia control. Graduating from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) with a University Medal, I have achieved four professional fellowships and am now undertaking a part-time PhD. I am the current National President of Optometry Australia and a past President of the QLD/NT Division. A visiting lecturer and award wining clinical instructor at QUT, I hold 23 peer reviewed and professional publications, and have presented over 50 lectures at conferences in Australia, England and the USA.
I love talking about all things eyes – bringing the latest research back into practice, reflecting on Australia’s position on the world optometry stage, and advancing our vibrant and fascinating profession. Join in on the conversation with me.
